The way we think determines what we feel, see, and hear.

We believe we experience reality as it happens.

But there's a difference between what happens and what we think happens.

Your perspective is what applies meaning, so what we think happens becomes our reality.

The reticular activating system (RAS) is a network of neurons in our brain that filters out unnecessary information so the important stuff gets through.

It's the gatekeeper of information imperative for human survival.

Examples of RAS in action...

  1. New parents can sleep through a plane taking off, but wake up if their baby is crying.
  2. You're considering buying a 4Runner, you notice every 4Runner on the road making it seem like everyone has one.
  3. You learn a new word and start hearing it everywhere.

You see what you're looking for.

RAS takes what you focus on and creates a filter for it.

The more you think about something, the more it shows up in your life.

Does bad shit always seem to happen to you?
Or do you see opportunities to learn & grow to get better?

Are people always super kind and giving in your life?
Or are they always rude and selfish?

I love this idea...
Is life happening to you or is it life happening for you?

We have self-limiting beliefs based on the narrative we've been conditioned to accept over the course of our life.

What you think influences how you feel and behave.

So if you think you're a failure, you'll feel like one.

Then you'll act like one, which just reinforces your belief that you must be a failure.

When you draw a conclusion about yourself, you look for evidence to reinforce the belief and discount anything contrary to that belief.

You perpetuate that narrative by solidifying it with evidence from select experiences.

And now you conclude...

"Yep, told you. I never win. No one loves me. It's just the way I am. I can't do that. That's for someone else."

But that's just one perspective.

Everything you have, think, and believe has been made up at some point in your life.

Just because you think something, doesn't make it true.

The narrative you've adopted and believed for years isn't actually fact.

If it was made up at some point, that means you can make up a new narrative.

One that fits the type of person you want to be.

Language is powerful and a point of emphasis during my mentorships programs.

You can't change the script that's already happened in your mind, but you can make edits in real time and change it moving forward.

Pay attention to the language being used in your mind and work to change that inner voice.

You can't control thoughts that pop up. Those happen on their own.

But you can re-train your mind to view thoughts as objectively neutral and decide which ones you want to pay attention to.

When you master your mind and change the narrative going on behind the scenes, you gain back control.

You allow yourself the ability to choose and not play the victim card to your circumstance or environment.

You become happier and feel like you own the direction of your life (you do).

With choice + control, you begin to steer your ship.

When you start steering your ship and become intentional with thoughts & actions, your life has no option but to change for the better.

Amazing things start to show up in your life that you didn't know were possible.

When you harness the power of new, positive, and serving thoughts, they start to actualize in your physical life.

Creating a positive outlook leads to better outcomes.

Everything in your life right now is there because YOU created it. Read that again.

Stop playing the victim card and start taking full fucking ownership of your situation.

If you're not going to take responsibility for it, who will?

You become immediately happier when decide to own everything in your world.
  • Your relationships
  • Your happiness
  • Your health
  • Your career
  • Your wealth
Don't accept your thoughts or beliefs as facts.

Challenge your beliefs often, look for evidence to the contrary.

Set your intent constantly.

Be intentional with a conscious flood of positive thoughts to reprogram your subconscious.

"Okay, Tim. I want to change, but how do I start?

Instead of thinking, "How do I get what I want?"
Think, "What's stopping me?"

You won't have the answer right away, but by planting the seed, your mind will start working in the background to figure out what's getting in your way.

(Pro tip: it's you)

To change how you think and what you believe you have to build belief, trust, and confidence.

All of those are rooted in a foundation of love & compassion for yourself.

My approach is simple.

Curate mini wins by getting your ass in motion and taking action.

Start super small, commit to 1-2 things every day, and never break the commitment to yourself.

Only then, should you add more things to your day.

After a week, you'll start to build a little belief that you can actually change!

After a few weeks, you begin to trust yourself to do what you say you'll do.

After a couple months, you get a profound sense of confidence in yourself.

Now you're on your way to completely reprogramming your thoughts and creating a new reality for yourself.

Don't misunderstand me, it takes fucking hard work and lots of patience.

But it all starts with intention + action.

This is why morning routines with intention are the cornerstone of my Group Mentorship program.

I love morning routines because they always provide a fresh start.

I believe you can change your whole life by changing how you start your days.

You immediately set the direction for your day and train your mind to get in line with what you want for yourself.

You begin to see incredible things happen.

Focus on your goals and your RAS will start to reveal people & opportunities to help you get there.
  1. Think of your goal every day
  2. Now think about the experience or result and how that makes you FEEL
  3. Create a mental movie of how you see it ideally turning out in the future

Reprogramming your mind doesn't happen overnight, but it will 100% happen with a plan and hard work.

The most simple way to change your life is to change the lens with which you view it.
